How to fill out a sales receipt
Here are some receipt tips:
1. Have the customer fill out the top part
2. Add 7% sales tax (for Bay Area)
3. Always charge tax on the full retail amount (before any discounts, sales, or amount off)
4. Write out the product name so you will remember what they purchased and what to reorder, but use abbreviations where applicable and that work for you (o/c - oily to combination and n/d - normal to dry
5. You do not need to write their card info if you run their card on square or propay while they are with you.
6. If you do write their card info down to run later, always ask for the zip code that is associated to the card. Sometimes their address zip code doesn't match the card's and it will be declined because of that.
7. Give the customer a carbon copy and you keep the top. I like to include the customer satisfaction sheet in the back as well.
